Ideas for Parents is biweekly e-letter in both English and Spanish, developed by the Search Institute. It is focused on building assets for your children and family. This e-letter is full of simple ideas to talk with your kids and support their healthy development.

This message board will be a useful tool for parents who are so busy that they can’t find the time to attend informational sessions , but they still need some support. It will allow you to anonymously post a comment or question or reply to someone who has already done so. Check it out!

Looking for something for your kids to do next summer?

SUMMER KIDS PROGRAMS

MOUNTAIN MENTORS: A group that has adults as volunteer mentors for kids ages 6-16.  The kids can participate in 4-6 events a month such as Rockies games, camping, mountain climbing, rock climbing and camping.  The group is free to join but you must be a member.  Some events are free while others are minimal in cost.  Contact Mountain Mentors for more information (970)668-9184

SOS OUTREACH: A group that does a lot of fun events all year round.  Membership is free and they to participate in a various events (8-10 events) over the summer costs $150, if a parent volunteers to help out with some of the events it will only cost $75 for the summer. The price for one event is approximately $35. If you are a parent volunteer you can participate in these events free.  SOS is offering the following events this summer: camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, rafting, gardening, disc golf, hiking, sailing and fun outdoor days. HIGH COUNTRY SOCCER: Offers summer soccer camps.  Kids 4-15 years of age can participate.  They offer different times and types of camps all summer long.  Contact Amanda or Matt at  (970)513-9668×3 or email:   amandaw@highcountrysoccer.org

BRECKENRIDGE RECREATION CENTER – they have camps for learning how to swim and enjoying the summer for all ages.  Contact the Breck Rec Center for more information.

SILVERTHORNE RECREATION CENTER – they have scholarships for kids for all of the programs they offer this summer.  Applications can be picked up at the Silverthorne Recreation Center front desk.  Applications are good for the entire year.

CCCAP/SERVICIOS SOCIALES: If you’re working this summer and want your child to attend a camp but may be having trouble coming up with the funds to do so contact  social services for assistance.  Contact Jocelyn at (970)668-9160.

KEYSTONE SCIENCE CENTER: They have a variety of camps for children 5-12 years of age.  There are a variety of sessions with different themes with sessions in English and Spanish.  Sessions run for a week or two Monday through Friday from 9-5pm.  For more information call:   1-800-215-5585 o (970)513-5800.
