LEM at Romp to Stomp

Romp to Stomp was a big hit this year. It was the 6th annual Tubbs Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series that was held on Saturday, March 8th of this year. It was an all snowshoe event and there were over 2,000 participants who helped raise funding for breast cancer research. Summit Prevention Alliance invited Latinas en Movimiento (LEM) to join them. We did the 3K fun race; it was so exciting to see Latinas be a part of a new snow sport. We even wore pink bandanas for support. I heard some comments from the ladies that they wanted to buy snow shoes so they can make this their winter sport. A total of 26 participated 14 women and 11 kids. This is the 2nd year that LEM has participated.
WAY TO GO LEM FOR PARTICIPATING IN A GOOD CAUSE!

Move More (on Hippity Hops)!
Greetings, my loyal readers. If you thought SPA staff was a little bit silly, today’s blog will surely seal the deal and confirm your suspicions.
SPA recently invested in Hippity Hops (you know, bouncy balls with handles that kids bounce on). Why?!? Let me explain. Here at SPA, we work with our coalition to promote eating better and moving more through our LiveWell Colorado initative. In this upcoming year, one of our big strategies will be promoting worksite wellness. Cool, huh?
Although our staff here at SPA really tries its best to eat better and move more while at work, we are always looking for new and creative ways to be physically active in the office. Tom, our executive director, suggested that we all get Hippity Hops to jump on as we move around in the office. We all thought he was joking, but…when the bouncy balls arrived…boy, were we excited!
Going to the printer has never been so much fun!
Catch you all next time,
Elyse (is bouncing at her desk)
Doggy Day at the Office
Today was Doggy Day at Summit Prevention Alliance. (Let’s be realistic: It’s *always* Doggy Day at SPA). Anyway…today was a special day because we took all six dogs on a nice hike up to Rainbow Lake for our February staff activity. I was the only person who didn’t have a dog. Well, actually, Susan doesn’t really have a dog, either. She was watching Natalie’s dog, Hunter. I guess she was paying back Natalie for teaching us all how to knit.
Hiking with the dogs was super fun. Sadie, Kari’s dog, did lots of extra work runing up and down, making sure we were all there in our herd. The rest of the dogs enjoyed romping in the snow. We ran into quite a few dogs up at the lake, so they all had fun playing together.
I was kind of jealous that I didn’t have a dog and everyone else did, but oh well. I get to play with 6 or 7 dogs everyday at work, so I guess I am one lucky girl.
Catch ya later!
Elyse
