KARI READ
Executive Director, Summit Prevention Alliance, kari@summitpreventionalliance.org
Kari became a member of the county in the winter of 2005. She grew up in small town Minnesota and received a BSW from Luther College in Decorah, IA. She then moved to the big city of Fresno, CA as a Youth Director in a local church. Alas, the city proved too big for this small town girl, she was drawn to the mountains, from so many family trips to Estes Park, and she ended up in Fort Collins working in an elementary school with special needs kids. She then took her skills abroad and taught in a small town in South Korea for a year and traveled through some magical places in Asia including Tibet – one of the most awe-inspiring places in the world. Finishing her travels with a month of rock climbing in Thailand was quite memorable! Back in CO she has been a raft guide, snowboard instructor, office manager and substitute teacher for the last year. She is looking forward to using her passion for uplifting youth and supporting parents to further the work of the Summit Prevention Alliance. Favorite Healthy Food – salad Favorite Physical Activity – rock climbing, camping, biking, and snowboarding
